Feasibility Studies

A staged feasibility study approach gives both parties the benefit of additional confidence in each other, and in the proposed project solution, thus ensuring the final solution is optimised in terms of price and functionality.

The typical format for a feasibility study would be

• An initial meeting between Industrial Automation engineering personnel and the customer to discuss the problem in greater detail at first hand, and fully define the scope and requirement of an automatic machine.

• Concepts meetings internally at Industrial Automation, brainstorming a wide range of different ideas, to develop the most promising ideas.

• Follow on discussions with the customer putting forward the best ideas from above together with rough sketches and thoughts to date, and schematic arrangements of the method identified as the most likely solution.

• Prototype/development rigs and mock-ups of those areas identified for development refining the mock up to show the working principles.

• Formal presentation to the customer of the findings of the study together with demonstration of prototype rigs. Along with the final presentation we would include a formal proposal for the full solution as defined by the study.

Our feasibility study work is very much aimed at producing schematic drawings, "real" ideas and demonstration rigs. The reason we are successful in these areas is because we are focussed and we concentrate our efforts on the practical and meaningful aspects, rather than generating reports that do not prove a great deal to the customer. Our engineers have carried out a large number of feasibility studies over the last 10 years and around 90% of these studies have resulted in the company continuing to supply the full project.
