The System is made up of two parallel lines, over 34m in total length, and comprises of a number of elements of custom built materials handling automation as well as standard Industrial Automation machines.

Each line receives tiles, coated surface uppermost, from one of the two production lines, at a total rate of 2,800 tiles per hour. An important feature of this system is to firstly pair the coated surfaces of two tiles together to avoid damage during transit. This is achieved by automatically vacuum-gripping one tile, raising and inverting it, and placing it onto the next tile in the line.

Pairs of tiles are then vertically stacked and conveyed to a station where a corrugated cardboard band is wrapped around the perimeter of the stack and attached with hot melt glue. A self-adhesive label is applied to the pack at the outfeed of the banding station and the complete pack is then shrink-wrapped.
