October 2007: Industrial Automation joins TEW Engineering Group Print

Industrial Automation has joined the TEW Engineering Group, a long established, privately owned electrical engineering group based in Nottingham, UK with regional offices in Cologne Germany, Brisbane and Melbourne Australia.

TEW design and manufacture a wide range of products, which provide their clients with innovative and efficient solutions to their requirements. TEW’s products are further represented by a network of licensee partners in the USA, Europe, Russia, India and Singapore.

TEW’s expertise is in the controlling of processes and the displaying of information and they therefore serve a wide range of industries including; Rail, Oil and gas, Power generation and Media.

Their products range from control panels, mosaic mimic diagrams and dynamic video walls for control rooms to CCTV systems, public information displays and media screens designed for underground rail applications.

Uniquely all equipment is designed and manufactured within TEW’s own facilities as opposed to relying upon sub-contractors. Their own engineers also complete installation and commissioning.

In addition a sister company, TEW Plus, provide installation only services for larger operational telecommunication projects.

Already within the TEW Engineering group is Caliba, a sign manufacturing and shopfitting division, which specialises in projects predominantly in the Retail, Education, Museum and Heritage markets. Caliba are exclusive partners with the Royal National Institute for the Blind (RNIB) to produce the Maps For All range of DDA compliant Braille and tactile products.

Michael Spencer, Managing Director of TEW commented “The acquisition of Industrial Automation forms an excellent strategic addition to the TEW group. Industrial Automation possess a team of highly qualified, creative engineers who like TEW design and manufacture class leading solutions for their clients and by becoming an integral member of the TEW group it is planned to further extend this range of products.”

The deal will benefit Industrial Automation’s clients in that whilst the company completes the vast majority of manufacturing in-house, certain specialist processes are presently completed externally. TEW possess both the expertise and facilities to complete these specialist processes in-house thereby removing the reliance on external resources and ensuring Industrial Automation are able to provide efficient and competitive products to their clients in the shortest possible time and of the highest quality.

“Being part of a larger engineering group with facilities in our key market areas can only be beneficial for our long term aims and development. The synergies from working together offers tremendous advantages for both us and our customers,” said Martyn Paradise, Industrial Automation Director of Operations.
